HANS HAASS (COLOGNE, SEPTEMBER 15, 1897 – MARIENHEIDE, NEAR COLOGNE, SEPTEMBER 22, 1955)

 

 

 

 

He studies at the Cologne Conservatory with Carl Friedberg (piano) and Franz Bölsche (composition). In 1916 he won the Ibach Prize. Since 1918 he was the head of a training class at the Krefeld Conservatory. Here he worked also as pianist and composer. In 1925 he became the recording manager of the Welte-Mignon company in Freiburg. For this company he also recorded piano rolls. In 1932 he worked as pianist at the Reichssender in Cologne. From 1938 he taught at the Cologne Music Academy. One of his students was Bernd Alois Zimmermann. In 1947 he became a Professor at the Music Academy in Detmold.
