HEDWIG MARX-KIRSCH WELTE-MIGNON PIANO ROLLS CDR

HEDWIG MARX-KIRSCH (KARLSRUHE, 07. 05. 1884 – HEIDELBERG, 14. 06. 1920)

She was not only a highly respected pianist but also a woman of striking beauty and charm, as evident from her photographs. Her extraordinary talent earned her the prestigious title of “Grand Ducal Hessian Chamber Virtuoso” at a young age. She gave acclaimed performances, including as a soloist with the Berlin Philharmonic under Arthur Nikisch in 1902 and in duo recitals with the renowned pianist Artur Schnabel, reflecting her significant reputation beyond regional borders.

She married Hermann Albert Marx, a Jewish banker and court councilor from Mannheim. Tragically, her life was cut short when she passed away in a clinic in Heidelberg. Devastated by the loss of his beloved wife, Hermann Albert Marx took his own life, consumed by inconsolable grief.
